My three year old made me LMAO

So last night I took the boys and met my wife, who was working late, at a little mexican food place by the house. After dinner, our 6 year old wants to ride with my wife and the three year old wants to ride home with me. Talk turns to who will get home quicker, as the boys are VERY competitive, so we joke about racing home.

We would never drive unsafe with the kids in the car, but I do run to the car and rush to get him buckled in his car seat. As we are leaving, Ryan is telling me "catch mommy" even though we are in the lead and the first out of the parking lot. As I turn onto the street he tells me "mommy is a fishing rod". I am puzzled, but he keeps repeating it over and over. Finally it hits me, that he has heard me talk about "hot rods" before in reference to fast drivers. I ask him if he means "mommy is a hot rod?" He says "yes, mommy is a hot rod!" very emphatically and I just start cracking up.

That's great jsharr. Kids say the darnedest things.

Here's one for you.

My son was probably 4. I had an old Datsun pickup that was always giving me problems. One day I was leaning over the fender working on the engine. My son was in the yard playing and after a while he came walking over. He curiously asks "Whatcha doin' dad?" I tell him, "Oh, I'm working on this stupid carburetor." He IMMEDIATELY replies just as serious as he could be..... "That's not a CARburetor, it's a TRUCKburator". And just kept walking.

I don't have kids yet (at least, not ones that I know about ), but I can relate a story about myself that my mother shared with me.

When I was young, also about 3 years old I think, I had a habit of saying, "Too dark!" whenever my parents turned out the lights to my room. Well, one day, my mother took me shopping at a Gemco (which, up in my hometown, was replaced by Target sometime in the 80s), and we were standing in line behind an African-American woman. It was apparently the first time I had seen a black person up close, and I tugged on my mother's shirt and said, "Mommy, mommy, too dark!"

My mom was, of course, embarassed, as the lady in question had heard me and turned around to see where it came from. Then she looked at me, looked at my mom, and quite pleasantly and genuinely said, "Oh, you have such an adorable daughter." So she got the last laugh... (unless I'm missing some vital piece of information, by the way, I'm not a girl)

My daughter just confessed to us that she used to sing into the nozzle of my mother's ****** water bottle that hung from her shower nozzle. She pretended it was a microphone.

When one of my daughter's was about 4, my wife was going through a check-out line with her. When the cash register drawer was open she said, "Hey lady, can I have a dollar? I'm all tapped out." Then she pulls her pockets inside out to show they are empty.

Wow, how time flies. She's 22 now.

Hey RDad, my six year old is saving his allowance. He tells me when he has a million dollars, that I get half! I may change his name for Wade to IRA.

My kid, who loves saying his ABC's, out of the blue last year started with Z Y X...damned if he didn't get all the way to A.

I can't do the alphabet backwards without brainlock. Now he does it as a parlor trick.

Hopefully he will never have to use that parlor trick in front of a law enforcement officer!

I had a roommate at Texas A&M who got pulled over one night as we were on our way to midnight yell practice.

He had been drinking and had beer in the car, which was legal in Texas at the time! Anyway, the officer gives him a field sobriety test. He passed, but came back to the car and told us, "she made me say my ACBC's backwards!" I will never forget that night!
