I'm smitten with a new bug.

Mountain Biking.

So here's the story:
Summer before my freshman year of college, I did some mountain biking in Colorado. It was awesome, so I saved my money for the next year to a mountain bike. I was this close to buying it when I decided that I'd probably get more use out of a road bike, as I live in Kansas. So I bought a road bike. I loved it. The speed was fantastic. I've been riding that road bike for two years now, and did my first road race last spring, but mountain biking has always been in the back of my mind. I never forgot how fun it was, but until now I haven't had the money to buy a decent bike. I placed an order for a gary fisher cobia last week. Unfortunately, it's on backorder until late october. The first collegiate MTB race in our conference was this weekend. A friend of mine in the KSU cycling club let me race his old bike. I got on a MTB on a trail for the first time in two years on Friday, and raced Saturday and Sunday.

Mountain biking is a freaking blast. I'm hooked. I can't wait for my bike to get here.

Oh yeah, I took 8th out of 10 in the Men's B cross country race Saturday, which is better than I expected to do. Today in the short track race I DNF'd, as I had a spectacular endo jumping into a creek, resulting in a flat, but the bike and I are both okay, and I had plenty of fun.

Fat tires are fun. Skinny tires are fun. Sometimes I'll even use just the one tire. It's all a blast.

And that's really rad to have finished better than you were expecting after not riding a mountain bike for so long. General level of fitness ftw?
