rawr, microsoft word product key anyone?

So I bought a new computer a few months ago and it came with a trial version of microsoft word / office 2003, which was fine until now. I went to go type up an essay a few minutes ago, and YAY! The product key expired in august Well that's just great.
My question: does anyone have a product key for "Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003" ? Or know where to find one? Google wasn't too much of a help since nothing really turned up.
(Im only in highschool and don't really feel like coughing up $150 for the complete version since I only really need word).

Download Open Office
http://www.openoffice.org

Remember to save documents in either richtext or WinXP97-2003 file type.

Free alternative to Office and can handle Excel, Power point and has an alternative database program included. Coming soon....Lotus functionality as well since IBM partnered with Sun Micro on this project.

Very similar operation, by the way as well, so you won't get lost in new software. I use it instead of Microtrash and it's Vista compatible as well

I use OO.org myself, but I used to get around expirations by changing the date on my computer. Not sure if that trick works anymore or not - haven't tried it in years.

Haha it's a good idea, but I went with Open Office and everything works now. Thanks again.

Hey, I actually prefer Open Office, in all honesty.....

I like the whole Open Source concept!

Be advised, you can snag Power Point Templates and use them in Open Officew as well. Sometimes you get a little format error creep in using Impress (OO Power Point alternative), so allow a little extra time before your class if you have to do a presentation to check and fix any issues, but for free, you sure can't complain!

I like the graphs better in Open Office Calc (Excel alt) better too!

Meh... I took my laptop and ran the presentation off my laptop. Good thing, too... the instructor's laptop kept locking up. :-p

Hell, for the types of word-processing that 80% of people do, WordPad would suffice just fine!

Yea, but wordpad doesn't have a spell checker. I like Open Office, but their spell checker isn't quite as good as Office.

The only advantage Microsoft Office has is Access, of course most people don't use it.

Please don't steal software. It's wrong on a whole lot of levels one of which is that it does not support the open source community.

Some might say that this isn't an advantage . While Access is a great end-user DBMS, MS's special flavor of SQL is a pain, and the platform can be quite quirky when building large DBs. MySQL FTW! The Query and Admin tools are fine, and the Workbench is up and coming. It's definitely worth the effort, and it's free.

If you're really intent on the use of Microsoft products, check at your HS Bookstore and see about getting a student copy of the software. Most titles are under $20 for students: Fully registered, you're just not allowed to use them for commercial purposes.

The point about the only difference is that office includes access is a good one. I had never used it before I came to the company I am at now, and I wish I never had to.

I just bought a (legit and validated via OGA) copy of MS office pro plus 2007 for $90 from www.campustech.com earlier this week for my new machine. You might see if they offer similar deals for your school.

I use Office, not as much for Access (OOo Base is good for that), but for Outlook to keep my Windows Media devices synced, and soonish for E-mail, once I get Exchange running at home [1].

[1]: I have to learn Exchange, so why not trial by fire on my heavily spammed honeypot domains?
