favorite video game (pre 2000)

videogames are somethin else these days. great fun. drop back a few years though.

what was your favorite title. PC, upright, or console are all fair game here. just curious what you really got into.

X-com: ufo defense is still my #1 treat. i had it for the PS and PC. love it!

syndicate (PC) was my next fav.

others were pitfall 2(atari)
discs of tron (upright)
xenophobe (upright coin sucker)
donkey kong 2 (upright)

enjoy!

Though I also spent a lot of time with Sim City 2000 and Civilization 1 for DOS/Windows.

Quake 3
Warcraft (something or other) and all games like it. I forget the name of them, command and conquer maybe...

Thats really it...I had simple game requests. If it wasn't intelligent, it had to be brutally violent....

Oh and carmegeddon...****ING AWESOME SERIES. (part 1 and 3 were best..part 2 was kind of ghey...)

Am I the only that disliked the entire initial first person (sort of) games like goldeneye. I could never get the hang of the interface. I was much more inclined to doom, quake etc...

Syndicate was fun, I thought the next generations would be awesome.. but as far as I know they never happened.

Warcraft, starcraft, etc were really fun. I also enjoyed the Civilization series.

PSX is the bomb.
Gotta get another one.
My #1 ever game was some old James Bond game, not Goldeneye, but some less popular one.
With a hotter theme song.

Edit: I still can't remember.
Who has an old PSX that they want to give away?
Doesn't have to be in perfect working order.

Stargate and Defender followed closely by Graviton. Oops, I think I just contradicted my post in the thread " ... if you are 30 or over". Keep in mind I played those games in my mid to late teens.

Adventure was awesome. I believe it was the first game to incorporate an easter egg.

I still play tecmo superbowl for the NES. Best football game ever. You used to be able to get updated roms with recent teams. Don't know anyone is still doing this.

I'll also agree that discs of tron was fantastic, but hard to come by. My girlfriend in college always beat me at Tron so I don't like the original as much.

One of my favorite arcade games was the original star wars game. I was obsessed with it as a kid.

I have to say that I really loved Zelda, A Link to the Past. That was an amazing game.

I played an hour of NHL PA (1994) on Genesis every day for a year.

Civilization II was a PC favorite.

I have logged countless hours on Half-Life and its various mods. That game got me interested in first person shooters and on-line gaming.

Recently, Rome Total War has taken the place of Civilization.

Halo and Halo 2 are favorites just because every few months all of my friends get together and play it.

Oh, and Falcon (2.0, I think). And Microsoft Flight Simulator -- I remember how excited I was when I got a colour Mac and played the new version that let you customize your airplanes. I'd make ridiculously fast jets with about 5 gallons of fuel in them, see how fast I could get them to go and then crash them into Lake Michigan

And Test Drive.

And "Life and Death", wherein you played a doctor and operated on people with appendicitis. Never did make it through a whole operation... given how many patients I killed for a routine operation, I'm surprised they let me continue... often, I'd just give up in frustration and turn off the anesthetic with the patient still lying open on the operating table .
