So a child asked me what grade I was in today...

...and I thought about it for a sec, and came up with the best answer I could.

I'm in 25th grade.

She was really cute, but now I feel old.

I would have said "I'm not in school anymore, you stupid kid, now get out of my way!" Then I would have taken her doll, knocked her over, and stormed away.

You're not old until you get your own. You dinks are foot-loose and fancy-free. My kids remind me everyday how old I am (but now I know that is a good thing ).

That's a side benefit of having married an older woman, when someone calls me old, I say:
"You should see my wife!"

Then I excuse myself to seek medical attention for my brand new wounds!

I never said it wasn't worth it. I'll finally finish after 28th grade, I think.

Yup. 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school, I'm currently in year 5 of 6 for my residency (surgery is 5 clinical years plus 1 research year), then 2 more years for my Vascular Surgery fellowship. There's my 28 grades.
