I have a niece that is travelling to Europe this spring. I wanted to know of a good forum for do's and dont's, dealing with staying in hostels, packing for a trip, selecting a backpack, personal safety, etc. I would like this to be a great trip for her. Thanks for any help.

The good hostels get packed in the summer, IME, so reserve ahead of time when possible. Not sure about spring; perhaps a non-issue?

My one suggestion that you may not see elsewhere: bring an extra battery for the camera if it's the rechargeable sort. I wish I had! And a tip: train bathrooms are good for recharging those batteries if the train isn't very full.
