I did not know that.

One of my all time favorite albums is Disraeli Gears by Cream. I had always wondered where the title came from, and thought it was probably some obscure reference about the "machinations" of the 19th Century British politician and prime minister Benjamin Disraeli.

Well I was watching a PBS special on Eric Clapton and he says Disraeli Gears was coined by Cream's drummer Ginger Baker, who was an amatuer bicycle racer before turning musician, and that Disraeli Gears is a play on words on "derailleur gears."

Learn something new every day.

Oh that's awesome!! I wonder how many other things like this were references to bikes?

Once, when very drunk in college, we changed the name of Red Lobster to Dread Blaster. I still call it that today. I even ran into the girl that made the name up at church recently.

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

Bikes and music...

From what I hear, John Lennon pedalled around Liverpool on a Raleigh Lenton.

Wish I could find a pic of that.
