Unreliable People

"Oh, I'm on my way"

20 mins later

nothing

I call

no pick up (clever...not answering makes you invisible?)

I HATE UNRELIABLE PEOPLE.

At this point, I honestly feel completely alone (in the real world). I have to do everything myself.

People...have failed me once again. The only time they can be counted on is to exploit me for something.

/rant (not really the end, but whatever).

Never expect anything from anyone else. That way you can't be let down. Don't ever have the mindset that anyone can make you happy either. Because it's a matter of how you accept things.

I learned this the hard way.

I hate it when people pull that garbage. If someone is genuinely late, that is one thing, as you never know about Austin's roads. But, when they deliberately not answer.

In those circumstances, I'd consider just dropping going to the meeting/dinner/whatnot, and go back to something better with time, like having your chimpanzee wear your pink shirt and get his concealed carry license.

Oh, I am not looking for happiness either. I just need a ride to the store, and I have a flat. Everything is closed, and my "friend" promised to give me a lift. That was a long time ago. Now I'm fully dressed, and quite let down.

See, I'm the type that won't let it come out of my mouth if I'm not going to do it. Is that too much to expect of others? Just tell me "no". That's logical. When you say "Yes", but don't follow through...I am...without words...

This person never showed up and never answered the call. The only way they can get out of it would be if they were UNABLE to show up, call or answer. Other than that, I'd say that your time is much too precious, your company is more welcome with other people and your idealisms are way to good to even be spent with this person.

Because if this person IS able but not willing or considerate enough to make contact with you, than they just aren't worth it.

I am toooooo NICE. I am convinced people take me for granted. What do normal people do? Cuss the person out? Cut them off?

That would be very rude of me. I know it sounds silly, but...all I have is my convictions.

I forgive everyone for everything.

I've been working hard on changing the way I look at things, so I think I probably would have been disappointed, but then I probably would have just gone for a walk--hopefully in the direction of the store--and burned off any negative thoughts by the time I got there and back.

Plus, that way there's room for those chocolate ice cream calories .

Perhaps you could tactfully* ask what happened. Like, "Did your phone die last night? I tried to get hold of you to let you know I didn't need a ride after all"...and go from there.

I finally got a hold of dude. He was casually like "oh...we were watching the eclipse"...then "wait, so you have no tranportation at all? Let me call you back". Then after awhile, I try again. Phone is on automatic answering service.

15 years I've known this guy, always there for him and his family.

Of course I have no transport at all. AAA would just drop me off with my car at the closed Firestone, and I would need a ride back anyway.

THANK GOD I DID NOT ASK FOR A RIDE BACK. Or I would be walking 5 miles home (rural GA)in the cold.

Now, I am even more upset that I got an "explanation".

Why be upset? The thing is, you actually got the truth. Of who he is. Isn't that cool? Now you know.

Now you know how to handle him. Sure forgiveness is always a blessing. But at least you know where your relationship is with him.

That's rather shabby treatment.

But, see if you can't convert the way you're thinking right now into some positive energy somehow. Like, posting some good stuff in P & R .

Your therapist would tell you that you can't control your friend, but you can* control yourself and the way you see things.

Just walked Sly the dog. Clouds parted, the arc of the moon came into full view. To my right, I saw Orion in all it's splendour.

My "therapist" was a beautiful Swedish woman (laplander, to be exact) who would tell me that "attitude is everything".

She left me for another man, but her attitude about the situation was AWESOME.

Even though I go for a ride almost every day, I have taken to going for a nice walk on the days when my husband goes to work and I don't. When he leaves around 7.30 pm, I head out the door. Usually down to Big Soos Creek, where I also ride during the day. It's very different at night. Quiet. Peaceful. Sometimes I hear coyotes. Sometimes owls. I've heard beavers splashing in the ponds.

Well, the first part isn't the best, but if she was able to teach you about changing negative stuff into positive, that is a substantial step forward.

In certain cultures 20 minutes = 2 hours. As a small business owner I deal with employees like that almost every day...
Asians like myself are generally very good about respecting time.
