If it is a prison, and those locked doors are cells, it is prison for the criminally small.

That's what I thought. I've never used Vista, and probably won't upgrade until I need to get a 64 bit OS, but if I wanted a Mac type interface, I'd buy a Mac. What a rip off...

So the place that's a punishment for the criminally small has all the supplies up on a high shelf?

I have Vista on a system I bought recently, and I am not completely disgusted by it.

I see no real advantage over XP, and the system should run a lot faster than my XP with the memory and CPU in that thing, but they seem to perform about the same.

My XP system had 512 MB of ram, and a 3 year old CPU (1.3 ghz???) Pentium with a dual core. The Vista is 1.8 ghz Pentium dual core, 3GB RAM.

There is supposed to be a Service Pack coming out for Vista that will speed it up.

Also, with the latest Office, they have hidden some of the common functions (like Print) so it takes a while to get used to it.

Yeah; it's one of the halls of my university.
I was getting back from a race that day.

Barely. Moved the start bar to the top and added a dock on the bottom is a much easier effort than all of the destroying I did while using XP (none of which was worth it).

As opposed to your post which is uninformed, ignorant, just as evil as what?, and just shows how ignorant you are.

For the OP: Vista sucks, and even MS thinks so.

My mum has it on her laptop (came with it). It really does look and feel like a mac ripoff.

Well, I was really keen on getting a Macbook earlier (when I was doing my co-op and had some money coming in), but I decided to hold off. I upgraded my laptop to 1.5 GB of RAM (originally just for Photoshop work) and installed Vista.

Performance is about the same, but it's so much more pleasant to work with. The effects are not even on the same league as that of Aqua (on OS X), but they are better than XP (read: NONE). Flip-3D is useless, but other programs like Switcher (Expose-like effect) take advantage of Aero to enhance some effects. Having a dock never looked so good before on Windows.

Before talking about rip-offs, keep in mind that Apple did "rip-off" the concept of the Dashboard from Konfabulator...

Interesting read. Thankfully I didn't get vista. Xp seems good enough, I am not sure where it needs improvement.

OP - great shot. What is that little tool bar you have? Is it useful?
