Here's a prettier British classic I saw in London today. As I was taking a pic the owner returned. I asked him what model it was as I didn't recognise it, and he said it was a 1954 Bentley Continental Fastback. He opened the boot/trunk to show me it had been signed on the inside by the previous owner, Eric Clapton. Imagine what went on in the back of this. So pretty, from the rear especially.

I had the chance to pick one of these up for a song, since the owner didn't know how to fix the engine, but silly me said I knew how. Once the engine was sounding great, the owner reneged on the deal, only to completely wreck the car two months later, and whining that he should have sold it to me at the reduced price.

I don't want to start a trend and make this topic heavy on internet connections but there have been quite a few Citroens here lately and Citroen has it's 100 years anniversary this year. So an interesting video to celebrate it's most spectacular of many innovations seems appropriate.

I luckily stumbled across a car exhibition/sale in central London at the weekend that was full of beautiful cars, here's my highlights.

A famous early George Barris Custom that inspired the "lead-sled" trend from 1953. A '51 Mercury Club Coup.

That Joe Walsh one can sometimes require antibiotics to shake. It wasn't even a very good song. You're welcome to my current earworm (in residence about a week) maybe it'll evict the Joe Walsh one:

And speaking of Nash (as a couple of us were a couple pages back) here are two of their '48 prototype pickups which were never produced . . . no guts, no glory. Americans love trucks

How about scanned pictures of some snapshots of the 1976 M-B 250 I bought in 1986 and drove with my family throughout Germany, as well as NL, Austria and France while living in Germany from 1986 to 1991. Got rid of it in 1991 at 330,000 km because it was leaking too much oil and my German neighbors would not have looked the other way for such an offense.

Sorry mate it seemed rather drab compared to the rest of the exotica there so I didn't even photograph it.

In other news that gangster above has a nice car, but he needs to have a word with his tailor, that is one badly fitting suit

This Studebaker is a '56 Power Hawk. Unfortunately for Studebaker the power came from a Packard V8 that must've been the only thing usable acquired when they bought the failing Packard company. Bad buy at any price imo, since the big Packard V8 was the dog of the '50s OHV V8s. Nice looking ride until they adorned it with the trendy unsightly fins on the back the very next year. This year though it had the cleaner fenders similar to the '62-'64s
