eBay in strife all over

Those who have been ripped off by the unscrupulous on eBay or by eBay itself can rejoice a little:

A PARIS court has ordered online auction site eBay to pay E40 million ($AUD65.8 million) in damages to Louis Vuitton for selling fake luxury goods online.

This comes after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission stepped in and stopped eBay from changing its listing conditions so that sellers could receive payment only through PayPal or COD (removing payments by cheque or direct bank deposit, etc as options).

eBay has now delayed indefinitely the introduction of the changes due initially on 15 June, then 15 July. The changes were premised on the idea that PayPal would provide the ultimate in protection in transactions (but neglected to state that PayPal -- and therefore eBay -- would get majorly fatter on enforced transaction fees).
