Not too fond of the black rubber/plastic bands. Do they come with a stainless link band?

Love the first one. Just checked out the Helson site; they've got some nice watches.

Top one comes with rubber and mesh. Not sure on the gauge although I suspect just rubber. You can always buy a SS band aftermarket if you really wanted to.

They do make some great watches. The one I bought is a homage to this:

Maybe some day I'll cross into the upper 4 figure watch market.

An expensive watch is essentially a piece of jewelry, or if you prefer a work of art.

It' comparable to say I'd never buy a suit from Brooks Borthers because a T shirt and jeans covers my body as well for a fraction of the price.
you nailed it. I won't spend more than $50 for a pair of jeans, but I get all my suits custom tailored, and they all do the same thing- clothe me. I used to think the same about watches until I got hooked on divers. Besides my wedding band, it's the only piece of jewelry I wear.

First-class airfare (from Washington, DC) and hotel stay for me and my friend; we just have to pay for meals and other expenses. Omega is going to to host us on their chartered boat for the actual race. Weird, never had anything like this happen to me before.

I've been sporting this for a few years now. It's nice not having to worry about a battery. It's self winding (through motion), however it does gain about 5 minutes if I don't wear it for a day and if I don't wear it over the weekend it needs to be reset and wound up by hand.

Yeah, I thought that Ultegra watch was pretty cool too. Would be kinda fun if you had a 6700-series crank. Then I noticed that the ebay listing was from China and the fine print said "background picture is not in 3D as shown". I'm sure it's a cheesy POS.

I have a stack of old watches, mostly flea market finds that are in need of some sort of repair. This one is the gem of my collection, a nearly mint WWII German Navy (Kriegsmarine) issue watch made by Zentra.

Thank you...

The real answer to what you're asking is that I have a descent job, I live modestly and have no children; so I can afford some indulgences that many cannot.

I am new to cycling so give it some time and I am sure the bike may change in the future. In the mean time, its the best bike that I have ever ridden. I just need to keep getting out consistently in the mean time. I haven't earned a better bike yet. I am embarrassed enough riding my Defy as it is (Bike is better than me)

BTW, you may know cycling, but you're way off on the watch cost estimate...
