Good emo bands?

I mentioned ChaCha a few weeks ago...

At any rate, sometimes i get questions and write out my response only to erase it. You see, if you answer questions improperly or poorly you get these nasty little emails. If you get too many, you make less.

This was one i couldn't let go though...

Q: What are some good emo bands?
A: Wait, isn't that kind of an oxymoron? I mean, wouldn't an emo band and its fans think they suck? Thanks ChaCha!

Hmm, and with this question i think i can officially call it a good night:

Q: I have a bunch of video of a fat man jacking off is this stuff worth money and where would i go about selling it?

I guess you have to applaud his entrepreneurial spirit.

I don't know or care so much about labels...but what is the opposite of emo? Does something like exist?

Emo is a very broad genre of music, so asking for good emo bands needs more specificity.
If you're talking about Emo rock music, then Dashboard Confessional and Sunny Day Real Estate are good (though the latter falls under the earlier kind of emo music).
If you're looking for emotional music, then lots of R&B and Soul fit that category.

The only bands that came out of that whole garbage movement that are worthwhile are Thrice and Coheed and Cambria, but they don't quite fit the rest of the emo mould.

What is ironic is that most bands bands that *look* emo are not. My Chemical Romance is a good example of this.

The whininess people associate with that genre comes from grunge, while the look of emo comes from punk, goth, and Marilyn Manson (for a purist, associating Manson with goth is like associating Rotting Christ with classic 1970s rock.)

OK so the origins of the term emo relate to something a lot different than what is now defined as emo (IE: Dashboard Confessional, Good Charolette, shotgun-blast girl hair).

Here's a decent example I guess of a band that was a little more along the lines of emo in the traditional sense: Sleepytime Trio

Coheed and Cambria are progressive, but mainstream music culture places them in the emo category which is false.

It would be pretty neat if there were direct to chacha numbers, but unfortunately the chances of you chachaing me are pretty slim. We had 500,000 quarries the other day...
