Apple could buy Dell Computer

Today. For cash. Total value of Dell stock? $22 billion. Total value of Apple's current cash holdings? $25 billion.

I don't think you have to worry about it Dell fans.

Dell sucks.

Really. It would ruin Apples rep.
A rusty fork in the sack is less painful than
dealing with Dells *laff* customer service *laff*.
Im sure Dell helped create many more MAc fans though............

I'm unsure about how one maker of crappy, overpriced PC's buying up a maker of somewhat humanely priced crappy PC's would affect me in any way.

Hmm... they could bundle their nicer OSX on cheaper hardware... hmmm....

Apple's Cash Conundrum

Most people don't realize that most of Dell's business is in enterprize computing. Their new blade servers are one the best bang for the buck out there and is more cutting-edge than HP's.

Quick, somebody tell every reviewer and the market (that keeps rewarding Apple with exponential market share growth year after year) how bad Macs suck. Blow the whistle Einstein.

You don't need Apple to do that. As long as you buy supported hardware, there isn't much stopping you putting Unix on a PC.

Yeah, but unless you buy Apple hardware, you can't act all hipster cool like Justin Long and feign sympathy for those poor *******s running Windows Vista.

You guys must not have been in an Apple store lately. The majority of new customers aren't "hipster" types who are trying to jack up their processing speed to the max so they can play the latest games. Nowadays Apple customers are people like me, who (although I'm an engineer) just want a computer that I can bring home, take out of the box, plug it in, and have it work. No Blue Screen of Death. No having to manually add new hardward because the computer can't figure out what driver to use. No confusing GUI.

I don't care how *****in' the machine looks (although my iMac is pretty slick). I want something that works, with a GUI that I can figure out without having to read the user manual. I owned PCs for over 15 years, and bought my first mac in 2003. I'll never go back to a PC again.

I was making a general statement to the PC die-hards on the thread, not singling anyone out. I should have been more policially correct and stated "you PC people".

What people who continually ignore the prowess of the PC market fail to understand is that the corporate sector is much much MUCH larger than the independent consumer base. A medium-sized company can purchase 500 computers or so at once...and there are quite a few of them.

Apple's corporate culture would make it really tough for it to support corporate entities. In fact, they have reported in the past that they are not willing to serve that market. That's perfectly fine...but at the end of the day, that still means that PCs will have the upper hand in computing.

Which is good for people like me, since it keeps our jobs relevant.

Being a shill is one thing.

Being a fanboy is totally different.

You are borderlining on the latter. You don't want to be there.

+100000

I like Macs but there function on the business end of things sucks. Developing enterprise software on a Mac just plain difficult.

My favorite Mac vs. PC joke from way back when is... What can a PC do that a Mac can't? Right click.
