Weddings and funerals - have you been to any?

I'm turning 30 next year, and it struck me yesterday that I've never been to a wedding. Ever. And after thinking about it for a bit, I realised that I've never been to any funeral either. That's gotta be highly unusal for anyone but young children.

So, how about you? Please take part in the poll.

Been to and in weddings on two continents. Been to funeral both good and bad. As the book and song say, there is a season turn turn turn.

I have been to far too many funerals and too few weddings...

I have carried too many friends and family members to their final resting place.

Better to be the main character in a wedding than in a funeral...any day.

I've been to 2 weddings and 1 funeral. The first wedding was when I was an alter boy. The second was when my second cousin got hitched. And the only funeral was when a good friend of the family died from cancer.

I'd never been to a funeral or even known anyone who died until my 20s, then I went to four funerals for close family members in about a two year span. Ugh.

I've been to maybe four weddings in my life.

I've attended many weddings and have my share of ugly bridesmaid dresses from the ones I was in.

I went to my first funeral when I was about 10. I've been to several more since then.

... wait a minute... how old were you as a flower girl? All the ones I've seen were no older than 10 and no more than 3 feet tall..

I will show my friends the same courtesy and elope when the time is right.

Way too many... Been to a couple weddings that turned into disasters too.. About funerals.. I was a pall bearer in my aunts in Alabama... Not really prepared. Funerals are bad enough.. But, when pall bearers are used to seal the grave. That was unexpected and more than I was ready for...

I went to 2 funerals, my grandmother on my dads side and my aunt on my moms side, that was when I was a child, I havnt been to any ever since, my mom, mom in law, my brother, and many more have since pasted and I didnt attend, my family understands my reasons and thats good enough for me I ve been to (and plan on attending) many weddings. They are usually a great deal of fun and you get to see faces that you havnt seen in a while. Thats almost always nice!

Been to more weddings than I can remember. I was in a wedding/bar-mitzvah band for several years. Weddings didn't pay well in comparison. Bar-mitzvah's, holy cow, you wouldn't believe what we were making for these.

Been to a few funerals. Unfortunately.

Plenty of both.

I was just at an ethnic Albanian wedding. Everything was in Albanian... with over 500 people, all who presumably spoke or understood the language. Even the live music on all 3 days was in Albanian. And it took place over the course of 3 days. Boy do these people know how to party.

I'm still the only one in the "neither" category...

I was invited to a wedding once, though, and had accepted, but then they postponed it for a year (not enough money). It was meant to have been in London the first time, but they decided to get married in Rhodes instead, and that was too far away for me, so I couldn't go.

And I've been drug along to the gathering that follows a funeral, where people chat and have a cuppa, and hug and console and all that stuff. But not the actual funeral business in church or in the cemetary. And only as a kid.

I suppose I'm lucky that way. Three of my grandparents are still alive (my mother's father died when I was six), and no other close relatives have passed away since I was very young - too young to go to funerals.

I was a flower girl at a couple of weddings. Both times the bride was the daughter of one of my mother's friends. I've been to a couple of weddings as an adult and both attendances were against my will because I didn't know anyone at the weddings except my date.

I've been to one funeral and it was a schoolmate's funeral when we were in high school. I think nearly the entire school attended. Very sad.
