Transparent favicon help?

I used a web site http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/ to create a favicon, but I would like it to be transparent. Anyone know how to do this? Unfortunately, I do not have photoshop.

I could throw one together for you! however, it might take me some time for me to dig up the original files from the jersey- did you want it to be the swirl?

if you have photoshop I believe you can create it with a transparent background.

a favicon is the image that shows up in your tabbed browsing/navigation toolbar indicating the site you are on. Its just a small graphic.

Wow, I didn't realize that .ICO supported transparency.

If you're also interested in using an animated GIF for favicon, you need to account for both Internet Explorer (which, last time I checked, only supported favicon.ico) and Firefox. Make an .ICO version and animated gif version of your favicon, and put these two lines in your header:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
<link rel="icon" href="favicon.gif" type="image/gif" />
