And this matters to you because???? This is just another reason to hate corporate America and the “image” BS they like to have. Well what is that “image”? We like to fill your kids with a sugar breakfast ever morning because mommy or daddy is too lazy to get up early to make you something healthy to eat.

Unless it was a stipulation in his contract, what he did at this party has nothing to do with what he has accomplished in the pool and the reason he even got the contract.

He has the person who took the picture and sold him out to blame and the media for blowing up a story that has nothing to do with anything that really matters to most people.

I think a Bob Marley song is appropriate here. Michael Phelps' new theme song!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1B55wEB030

Don't you look at me so smug
And say I'm going bad
Who are you to judge me
And the life that I live?
I know that I'm not perfect
And that I don't claim to be
So before you point your fingers
Be sure your hands are clean

Judge not
Before you judge yourself
Judge not
If you're not ready for judgment - oh!

The road of life is rocky
And you may stumble too
So while you talk about me
Someone else is judging you

If I already didn't think that Kelloggs makes a lot of crap, I'd boycott them now for removing the endorsement. By removing the endorsement they are instilling the notion of what is proper and improper.

And, one college party with weed is nothing compared to the disgusting corporate lobbying that keeps the things they call food in the market.

And, while I'm thinking about it, I bet those boxes will be worth a lot in the future to those who collect such things. Limited edition....

I imagine he'd be not-quite as much but still in the hot seat if he was photographed falling down drunk in terms of "image". Yes the herb is illegal... and most folks simply don't care. In our cult of celebrity we're so anxious to see someone fall, if it looks like they may right themselves, we try to push them over. Sad really.

As for charging him, well that's just full on "special needs policing/prosecution". Hey there's a picture of your Dad smoking a bowl when he was younger. Let's lock him up.

Dang it, the only cereal I ever bought to collect the box was when I bought a couple of boxes of Krusty O's at the Kwik E Mart down the street.

The article failed to show who passed the bong to Phelps. That darn Towelie.

I really don't care he smoked....the guy finally got to let off some steam after years of relentless training. Yeah, perhaps he should of been smarter about it but I haven't changed my opinion of him. I wish I was there to take a hit with him

What, only perfect people can be role models?

Two lessons that Phelps can teach children...

1. Nobody is perfect and no one should expect you to be.
2. Marijuana laws are asinine.

I'm boycotting Kelloggs and any of the other sponsors that dropped him.

Kelloggs is just playing CYA. They could either keep him, and face boycotts from conservative extremists, or drop him and face boycotting from a few marijuana activist extremists. I'm sure they'd face more scrutiny if they kept him. Can't say I blame them.

And Kelloggs owns Kashi as well in case some ppl did not know.

I'd rather kids look up to a "sports star" who can separate his personal from his professional life enough to have some fun once in a while, than one who shoots all kinds of performance enhancing chemicals into their body in order to help them cheat at a game.

Phelps did nothing harmful, here. It was Kellogg's who went off the deep end.

That's because drinking is seen as harmless, for some weird reason I'll never understand. Of all the bizarre behaviors I've either witnessed or engaged in, the worst of it almost ALWAYS is related to drinking, and not smoking pot. The weekend emergency room is not full of stoners.

IIRC Kelloggs is owned by the seventh day adventists. If any sponsor was going to jump ship after an incident like this it would be one owned by God botherers.

Line up the top twenty people at Kellog's and offer a reward for information about their early years. I knew about three people in fifty that didn't smoke dope when they were Kids. If you lived thru the 60's and 70's you did it

Hmm think this one through

Your contract obligating you to pay some guy millions of dollars a year expires in a month and with your bottom line falling like crazy because customers perfer generic cereal to kellogs, your not going to resign him. Its all about the dollar...

Humm lets think this through

I'm at the top of my game in a sport that has 0 income potential. I'm getting millions to have my face on a cereal box or a 30 second commercial. It's enough money that will set me up for life and all I have to do keep my life squeaky clean for maybe a year or two. OR I can smoke pot get DUIs and have fun and end up with nothing.

Like it or not this is how the game is played, it's business nothing personal. And its not just Kellogg the US Swim team also suspended him.

Right now he has a DUI and now the photo. If he keeps it up soon he will pass the tipping point and no one will want him. You will ten see him on the HSN trying to sell autographed swim caps for $20. Anyone who is really looking out for him and his future would be advising him not to do thins stuff. When his popularity fads he can smoke pot in the middle of Times Square and no one will care.
