The Progressive Insurance girl is kinduva *****

Has anyone else sensed this? The girl in a white lab coat. She seemed noticeably sarcastic in the first round of TV commercials, almost like she had disdain for the customers she was talking to. And what's that stupid line about saving enough for a new pair of shoes or a tricked out nametag? Why is that funny about the nametag? Who writes the ad copy for such a commercial? Just the phrase "tricked out" is not going to resonate with the buying public, and it doesn't make sense that one would be able to afford a nametag because it doesn't seem like a valuable item or at least not something that a consumer would associate a value with. A pair of shoes is something people know the value of, but not a nametag. Overall, a really bad commercial.

YouTube - Progressive.com Commercial - "Tricked Out Name Tag"

And NO, it doesn't prove that the ad works just because I remember it, because there are alot of commercials out there that turn me off from buying a product (like McDonald's breakfast commercials - yuck), even though they are memorable.

Not only do you remember it, but you're thinking about it, posting about the commercial and the company on the internet, and spreading said filth to innocent people who might otherwise never see the thing you're talking about.

You can make $2M for being sarcastic? And here I've been doing it for free my whole life. I missed my calling.

That's just a reflection of the sarcasm/cynicism/snarkiness that pervade our culture, especially the younger generation, no?

That person must not live in Texas, which ties with California for beautiful women.

To me, the Progressive girl is pleasant looking, maybe a 7, but not the type that makes me all googly-eyed. The girl on her left is hotter, but she's not my type (I loathe the mentality that my wife or girlfriend would justify buying a $200 pair of shoes the minute I make the calls to lower our household insurance rates. "Dammit, woman - we're trying to save money, not buy you new shoes!" That's what I would say...)
