tan lines, bike style

top and out side of the forearms, out side of the calfs and the tops of knees, last week after an 50 mile cycle wearing a long sleeved base top just my wrists got tanned, during my shaved head times even had half a dozen tan marks on my head where the sun shined through the vents on my lid

how do you explain yours

try removing tan lines by using masking tape on the tanned areas and lying in the sun.

no coasting that's not the way to do it. you only wear warmers so as to cover up the already tanned parts.

I don't bother explaining the weird tans. I just give them a funny look like "WTF are you talking about?"

I have a farmers tan that I am trying to get rid of. Bike sock tan. My legs are only tan from the knee down.

Oh, I am going to have to look for the Neutrogena stuff...

Coppertone Sport 30 plus first metric century of the season (and first shorts-enabling weather! It's been bloody cold here!) resulted in this:

And yes, that is much more burnt on the right than left leg. 45 kms due east..

With bonus chainring print! I should just get a damn tattoo already...

Oh, and I don't even TRY to explain. I just wear longer skirts most of the time. Funny tan lines are the least of it; you should see some of the bruises I've had. (Fragile skin + high pain tolerance + crappy memory + extreme klutziness = lots of "what the hell did I DO?" bruises...)

The Nuetrogena works well. It's a bit chalky but no burns here (I'm more olive skin so I don't burn quite as fast). They do make the Coppertone stuff in a 48 or 50 spf as well....

I just got some in spray form (good for your back, legs) and also a small stick for the face - works pretty good.

Pass the ice pick and extra strong bleach please. bad, bad Jeff. That is a horrible mental image to give anyone, let alone on a Monday.

I can vouch for the Neutrogena sunscreen. I ride 4-6 hours almost every Sunday and barely have a tan line on my legs.
