I had an autographed poster of Billy's snarling face that hung on my dorm room wall when I was in college. I wish I hadn't thrown it away.

My brother dated his nanny.

He definitely lived the rock & roll lifestyle according to the stories.

Billy Idol was part of the '77 - real - punk scene putting him at 30+
He is Gen-X version of Mick Jagger
Check out some Gen-X stuff on YouTube. Might be the greatest Pop band in the
history of civilization

Got married in '84 (scratches head - I think or some year around there ...) and on the Honeymoon - we happened to see a concert about an hour away and it was Idol. So we went there. It wasn't that good to tell you the truth - and at that time - we were going to lots of concerts.

I couldn't convince my wife to do a reenactment of the "White Wedding" video when we got married.

Disappointing is too tame a word.

I had a busy weekend years ago ---- was on the way home from a Pink Floyd concert in Toronto ---- on our way home to see Bowie's "Spiders from Mars" tour - concert and ... unfortunately, for the last couple of years promoters had been scheduling lots of concerts - too many concerts - killers on the wallet - which resulted in smaller crowds and cancellations due to low ticket sales, etc. And that's what happened to Bowie's concert. Never saw him at all, ever.

Crank it up and crack out your air guitar.

Eyes Without a Face

I'm all out of hope
One more bad break could bring a fall
When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release

(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace
Your eyes without a face

I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was you

(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace
Your eyes without a face

When you hear the music you make a dip
Into someone else's pocket then make a slip
Steal a car and go to Las Vegas oh, the gigolo pool

Hanging out by the state line
Turning Holy Water into wine
Bringing it down

I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip
I'm thinkin' of you, you're not there so

Say your prayers
Say your prayers
Say your prayers

Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don't despise
Now all I can do
Love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realize

(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage)
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace
Your eyes without a face
Such a human waste
Your eyes without a face

And now it's getting worse

I had a mohawk back in the good ole daze that lasted a very short time.
I learned a valuable lesson. Never do something to get a reaction then
be shocked when you.......get a reaction ! The biggest problem was,
being no Vidal Sasson, the black dye I threw in it to make it look uber skeery
would come off on whatever I passed out on. That got real old, quick !

funny you mention that. I once read that BI would put toothpaste in his hair to get it all white & spiky in the early days. Now I always think of Crest when I see him.

I have a cool book of concert photos with really old Gen X shots where he has orange hair. There is also a clip of Kate Bush on Top of the Pops and BI is seen sneering on the dance floor. Nice.
