Florida fisherman catches live sidewinder missile

US fisherman hooks live missile
https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8092123.stm

A commercial fisherman in Florida had a lucky escape after netting an unusual catch - a live air-to-air missile.

Long-line fishing boat captain Rodney Solomon reeled in the missile in the Gulf of Mexico, about 50 miles (80km) off Panama City in Florida.

Well, that's one fish story that won't have the size grow over time....

I don't think he had enough line to play that thing if it lit off but it would make a great story..."There I was, I had this fish almost in the boat then it went Mach 2 and snapped the line!"

Sidewinders are best with sauteed potatoes, diced peppers and a nice chardonnay.

Y'know, I read that and thought about how amazing it is that human beings have survived this long.

I pull up some sort of obvious "thing that will kill me"... I'm not going to carry it around for a few days before I let somebody know what I've found. I think I would have just cut the line and held my breath for a few seconds, then called in the GPS coordinates.

He definately should get back the shell as a souvenir...that's pretty damn cool, danger factor aside.

If it got ready to take off, he should have grabbed a seat on top of it and swung a cowboy hat in the air hooting and hollering as it goes towards it's destination.

Air Force is now saying - after EOD examined it - that it was an inert warhead. That means there's no explosive in it. And, in theory, the rocket motor is burned out if it was fired.

This got a LOT of Tv time here in Vallhalla.....

To hear the story from the young beachbilly and rastaman
who found it was very humorous. They left the young kid out
of the link vid, unfortunately......
There is no question they were long term Floridians

I dunno, a nice buttery chardonnay can really complement RDX.
