yeah, they're just coloring the sclera. The picture in the OP shows the entire eye colored.

Well, the tattoos I have seen were always the sclera (the white of the eye), but the article you just posted indicates the morons are now actually doing corneas, so I could be wrong.

I think I'm going to look into pursuing a career in Ophthalmology. It looks like there will be an increase in demand for their services shortly.

The article is wrong. Pictures from here show just the sclera being tattooed. The NYP is a lousy newspaper. I wouldn't trust anything they write.

Cornea tattooing does take place but just, as mentioned previously, on people with eye injuries. See here.

Why not just get colored contact lenses? Then you can change them any time you want.

My nephew (who is 23) has contact lenses that make his eyes look like they're frozen.

Yeah, thats great, as long as these fools who start getting complications like infections have to pay for their expensive optho care themselves. THAT is why this was banned. Otherwise you and I have to pay for the aftercare when the idiots go to the hospital

I will now jump off my high horse.

I'd rather help pay for that than pay for someone who has a heart attack due to a lifetime of sedentary apathy...

Wild. I gotta admit - those are some damn good portraits, even without the scale considerations. Most portrait tatts I see don't even look like whoever they're supposed to be, which is, imo, a problem

If people are stupid enough to permanently disfigure themselves to that degree, then I say go for it. Like someone already said, it's one less person competing with the rest of us in the job market ... unless you're looking for employment in a freak show.

Just to put this in perspective - people all over the world have been modifying their bodies for many many centuries. Bodies are found preserved in bogs with tattoos. It's not simply a recent vehicle for the desperate or misguided.

I'm not arguing against opinions that tattoos are a bad idea, but for many, wearing a suit or tie every day is a far worse form of self-mortification. An equally compelling argument, if you think about it.
