OT-What's the best way to get conditioned for flag football season?

I've been too busy chasing a toddler to bike for the last year and am grossly out of shape. Unfortunately, "biking" isn't going to do it - I'm trying to get my breath back, be able to throw a block, and avoid shin splints, ya know? Any suggestions?
