My lady did her first triathlon. It was a "super sprint", but you gotta start somewhere. She'll be crushing souls in no time.

She's almost got it down...

Fred Tri's Hard Too

Can you spot the brother?

so are you getting her a new bike to celebrate the beginning of many? She looks like she needs a P4

Is that you in the one with her with the medal? You need a better smile, maybe less pained.

I can't believe that crap is legal. Basically lets you swim freestyle without learning how to breathe.

It's probably a "water resistant asthma inhaler". I'm sure the officials would buy that.

I just checked, and apparently they're legal, and it's a loophole in the rules that's been somewhat contentious... Personally, if I'm relying on something strapped to my head to do well on the swim, I'd be a little worried about what would happen in the event it gets kicked/pulled/caught on something.

"What? Noooo, these aren't Water Wings. They're blood pressure cuffs, so I can keep tabs on my blood pressure. Honest.

It really is scary how bad some people are at the swim. I'm a mid-pack swimmer on a good day and I couldn't even fathom starting a race with the level of inexperience some of these people have.

Not for shin splints... I mean, getting a daily amount of calcium is good and all but I'm not sure it would help. "Shin splints" actually have nothing to do with the bone. Might be worth seeing an ortho sports med specialist...

In the mean time, keep an eye out for "aquavelo" events, i.e. swim/bike. There are a handful out there...
