Labor Day Weekend Plans?

so, what are your plans for the weekend???

me?

Friday: work till 12p, eye dr in afternoon, REI to check out Labor Day sales, bike prep for 100mi fixie ride, ??
Sat: planning on riding down to the Goldsboro area and back (on the fixie) - should be close to 100mi. maybe grill a steak for son & myself for supper that evening.
Sun: some kind of easy ride and go see a movie, possibly All About Steve or something like that and grill again.
Mon: ride the cross bike at Umstead State Park. grill out again....

other than that, i have no idea....my daughter is 3hr away as is my Dad...i suppose i could head up to visit my Dad on sunday - haven't seen him in a while and it would be good for him to see his grandson before he enlists....

so, what is everyone else doing??? probably stuff a lot more exciting than my plans.

Actually mine are looking up a bit

Fri nite - getting the commuter mtb from shop - 3 yrs old and I prematurely killed the cassette and crank - but I'll replace that in the Spring (I but the parts btw) - winter puts a killing on stuff....

Saturday -hitting public market a few times with backpack - it's going to be fresh veggie heave for the next couple of weeks, plus I want to freeze some. Later - taking roadie out to a flatland MUT to a few towns over.

Sunday - cooking a verrry nice meal for Mom as it seems my local brothers are off and doing their own thing.

Monday - Fah - could march with my union but I think that's going to be a ME-day - riding out to the sticks.

I'm s blah

No solid plans for Sat. or Sun. Depends on the weather. Probably some quality boat time.
Monday-Group ride @7:30 then I'm going to go pick up my wife (she has to work) and take her to lunch on the Harley.

Saturday: 70 mile training ride in anticipation of a century on 9-26, and out dancing that night
Sunday: Usual, only more relaxed since Monday is a Holiday
Monday: 16 mile early ride, then whatever on this non-stressful Holiday (no demands)

Friday: hit bar where friend will be - she owns the delivery company of the truck that nearly creamed me yesterday.

Nothing like being in busy city traffic - look back and see no one - and so that's my time to go as fast as I can to get around the @#%@#$ expressway entrance - and all of a sudden hear a huge roar in back of me - didn't even have time to turn around - and this truck 3/4 (not full semi) was speeding and it took the corner wide - and with in 1 second I was mid ways pacing the truck - and it was still getting closer to me - instantly unclipped and was just about ready to ditch and roll to the right - when it cleared me --- I saw the #%#@%@$ side of the truck, no lie, 2" from left handlebar and I'm as close to the curb as I possibly can by now. Freaked out. Didn't have time to get plate - but the name, hmmmm how do I know that name.

Ahh, my friend owns it. Called bar last night (her husband owns it) and she wasn't there she'll be there tonite. Truck sounded empty so I'm pretty sure she can track schedule and see where this truck of hers was on it's way to pick up a load at 11:15 yesterday.

Saturday: Go to the public market a couple times and stock up on fresh foods! Then take the roadie out to the sticks for a nice long ride - enough of this city traffic! Course I have to ride about an hour to get out beyond city and busy suburbs ...

Sunday: Make dinner for Mom - something nice.

Monday: May march in parade (heh with bike) with the union, then I'm off - hitting some hilly offroad with the Toy.

So, not a heck of a lot I guess
