No, it's stainless steel. I'll be off the bike for about 2 months. Far better than trying to have it mend on it's own.
The surgeon is a "retro grouch" cyclist and suggested that I just HTFU and accept the fact that steel is real. He is also installing a set of down tube shifters. I am more than a bit concerned about that.

Wow, I mean I am a giving guy and all, but you ghouls can get your own body parts. I really only want the thumbs, ears and toes for my jewelery collection, but still, finders keepers, losers weepers I always say. I may consider trades though, so offer up.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
If we are making a wish list I'd like a new spine or more specifically, some new nerves to fit into my spine which appears to be in excellent condition.
Therapist says I have the body, mobility, and flexibility of a much younger person but the complete lack of reflex in my left leg and partial reflex in my right isn't good... it just confirms what everyone else has been saying (except those wcb bastards) in that there is some serious (and permanent) nerve damage in my back.
While we are at it... more hair would be good.

Road trip tomorrow. More time in Trexlertown, which means more sprinting. I made a goal to dominate this year, I'm going to put in the training to achieve this.
First stop is to where I work to get a saddle, I broke my most favorite saddle ever selle italia flite classic in my next to last sprint interval today. Kind of feels like I lost a part of me.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Have spent most of the day in bed trying to stay off my feet... thinking that I have been overdoing things the past few days and the body is telling me, in no uncertain terms, that I need to stop for awhile.
Just waiting for the drugs to kick in here.

Didn't literally lose a part of me, I had that saddle for a long time. When getting off the saddle for a sprint and heard a crack and when I looked back the saddle was flopping.

note to self: do not put foot down on wet wood while applying brakes on a moving bicycle.
