Woohoo!!!

It's snowing... on the first day of classes... and I have no car... and there's no public transportation... Awesome

Wish me luck, foo. I'm not as visible as I'd like to be, but them's the breaks. If nothing else, it should be an exciting ride.

Thanks... jerkwad.

I've been told I should get a more powerful rear taillight and that might not be a bad idea.

PB super flash is the bomb as far I'm concerned...cheap and bright. But this is the wrong forum for that.

I have a pretty bright flashy right now, but apparently, the shizzle is the Dinotte 140. It's like, 120 bucks, though.

I'm gonna swap out the semi slicks and put on some big knobby treads.

I use the CatEye TL LD1000. After seeing the comparision thread in the electronics and lights forum, I might upgrade to a TL LD 1100. I like that is has the LED's on the ends.

Thanks everyone. The ride wasn't bad and I'm just washing down the bike now.

Doohickie, I'm going to Oakland Community College. I just want to get an Associate degree right now before I move into a university. Smaller class sizes, etc...

Most, if not all Oakland University campuses have bus service near by, and I believe all buses in Oakland county have a rack up front to haul bicycles.

I just checked on that. They only run the service I could use at rush hour. I don't need to be at class until noon.

I have other obligations that won't let me leave the house at 6:30 am and get back at 6:30pm. I mean, I suppose if I simply cannot get to school any other way, it'll be an option, but it certainly won't be something I do all the time. The nearest bus stop is 2.5 miles away from me, too.

I really am surprised at the crappy public transportation out here.

Time to invest in a utility bike and one of those jet engine-like things that melts snow.

Don't be. It's motown. If I remember right, there used to be a hell of a nice trolly system back before WWII, and it was bought out and taken out of service by one of the big 3, I think Chrysler. They want you to have a car, and they want it to be destroyed by the salt so you have to buy another one as soon as possible.

Even the side walks and streets seem purpose built to discourage cyclists.
