Easier to just steal the identity of the offending person(s), then just terminate their cell service. Or some well placed C4

No no, you understood it the wrong way. It would be useful for preventing said vandals to hassle other people. With their endless yapping. In movies, concerts, theatre, trains etc.

Yes, trains. Our trains have spotty cell phone coverage at best between stations. Some people don't believe it, so they try to call. Repeatedly. They get cut off every 30 seconds or so. After 3rd try they figure they need to raise their voice. At 6th attempt someone politely reminds them that there are in fact phone booths in the train for this exact purpose and that the train company has actually posted signs strongly suggesting people use them. Reception isn't any better there, but at least it spares everyone else having to listen to the absurd sniplets of their medical records, marital issues or whatever it is they attempt to communicate this time. But nooo, they don't want to move there, it's more comfortable to shout HELLO? repeatedly at their hand right in their seats. More comfortable for them that is.

Vandals indeed.

I understood the OP as needing a cell phone jammer while cycling for the purpose of jamming the phones of motorists on general "principles" as is often posted about in other forums by self appointed enforcers of traffic decorum.

This is the part you assumed.

No, is not for traffic.... I need it to put a stop to an annoying cubicle neighbor and his 4 hour long personal and loud cellphone conversations, in a passive aggressive way. I think I know more about her personal life than my own.

How about stop being a child and speak up? Can't expect someone else to fix your problems, can you?

This...I refuse to even pay to go to the movies anymore over this bit. Overpriced popcorn, cokes etc.? Sure. But not this. They only put a messege up on the screen before the movie about 5x asking everyone to turn off their cellphones, but do they care? Hell no...At least 4 or 5x during the film I'll be distracted by bright little screens and some asswipe yapping. I'd love to have a jammer...Standing in line at the grocery store or whatever while some inconsiderate fool yaps into their phone while staring off into space instead of taking care of biz with the cashier. Like anyone in line (or the cashier)gives a rats ass whether your kid gets picked up from dance class or not. Oh yes...the possibilities are endless.

Unless they merged two threads, this is not what the OP said. EMP is vastly different than jamming. EMP is destructive. Jamming is, in most cases, not.

EMP will take out an electronic device within it's impact area, jamming works against targeted frequencies.

If this is a work issue, a personal request should suffice. If he's not professional, a word to your boss and/or HR ought to solve this problem in short order.

Oh, and if you were to find a way to EMP him, you'd also EMP your own stuff plus everyone else in the area... building, even.

Hmmm...I've been snooping around, and it seems they're only restricted when they jam over a certain distance. Ones that jam up to 150 ft. are for sale all over the place. (likey and makes mental note for birthday) Some that jammed up to 150 meters were restricted to certain uses...prisons, military bases etc. etc.

I think you want a directed energy weapon. Basically, it's a directional EMP/HPM device for small-scale use that doesn't require a high-altitude nuclear explosion. It has a flux-compression generator antennae with sliding rare-earth magnet. A high-powered charge is used to detonate the device and it accelerates the magnet through the antennae as it destroys them both. The exploding magnet also has powerful electromagnetic effects that's channeled down the antennae. The result is a very intense EMP pulse in an aimed direction. Depending upon the size of the devices, you can limit damage to a single vehicle and phone.

The interplay between those who are taking this as a funny vent and those who want to preach "responsibility" and public good and what-not is very amusing.

I'd buy one for my classroom in a heartbeat, btw.

BF is full of "funny vents" from posters who daydream about kicking the ass of, snitching on, or shouting snappy "comebacks" at strangers who upset their equilibrium.

BF is also full of people who use these vents as an excuse to preach.

I prefer humor.

I guess some rubberneckers love to laff at people who show signs of cracking up, or at least an inability to live and let live without dreaming of getting back at strangers who offend their tender sensibilities.

Was I preaching?? Sorry...didn't mean to. I was actually more interested in it for my own personal amusement, not to teach anyone a lesson. Better than half of the people would never figure it out anyway and blame their provider.

Have you thought about maybe somehting not so passive like "Hey ****** turn it down a notch" or my favorite "If you don't hang up that phone I'm going to shove down your neck hole." (That suggest decapitation prior!) I've never had issues.

I personally like "If you don't put the damn phone away, I'm gonna shove my foot so far up your ass, you can trim my toe nails with your teeth!"...........but I've never had to use it yet cause we can rarely afford to go anyplace.
