Dogs and smelly stuff

What's with dogs anyway? Today I took the mutt and headed out to one of our local trails along the seashore.Coming back to the car (trail is out and back) the dog is off lead and off to the side in the trees. So I look over to check on her and all I see is her legs up in the air and a whole bunch of wiggling going on. I called her back to my side and according to her she has found the most wonderful smelling stuff in the world and had a great roll in it. I see and smell this awlful slimey sh*t that stinks and looks like hell all over her. I think it is called eau d'ancient dead fish complete with scales. After a good wipe down and a wide open window home in the car it was bath time. Now she just smells of wet dog which is an infinite times better than what she found! This is not the first time that she has done this but it rates up there as one of the worst.

Used to live on Okanagan Lake and every year after the salmon spawned they'd start washing up on the beach... my otherwise well behaved dog would do everything she could to escape so she could roll around in dead fish.

It was an eye watering and vomit inducing smell.

Ever wonder why some dogs like the kitty nibbles so much ?

Mine just used to look at the cat in the box with an expression that said, "light a match or something".

No it's the cat that wonders "what's that smell and where's it coming from?" Ever notice how fast a cat gets out of its litter box - mine zooms away as fast as he can.

A dog is trying to determine the vintage and composition and picks the right moment to savor the delicacy. You will never see a cat eat its own turd. Dogs are sooooo disgusting they eat not only their own but it's "neighbor's" as well.

Yeah, it's not just fish, either. A friend of mines lab loves nothing more than to sniff out deer guts and have a good roll or a week old carcass that's been rotting in the 100 degree summer. It's nasty.

Want to stop a dog from eating old crusty feces? Add some potassium to their diet. Poo eating is an indicator of a potassium deficiency in a dog.

Now, why they roll in smelly stuff? To the female dog, a smelly, dead fish smells like Axe or Old Spice to a human female. The male dog is just trying to wear the canine equivalent of aftershave.

Yeah, that grossses me out, no end. Here's the dog licking his balls or some other dogs arse, and then walks up and licks the owner on the mouth. It makes me want to vomit. (insert gagging emoticon)
