So many regretful rants, so little time. Here's my Twitter version. "Why am I a sports fan? It's so irrational. Living in Indy was disappointing enough before last night."

First of all, you can't be the greatest QB of all time if you lose the Super Bowl by throwing an INT. Unless Manning goes on a rampage and wins 3 straight SBs, let's end that talk. Greatest regular season QB? Doesn't matter.

The Colts were way too conservative and it cost them. After the defense stopped the Saints on 4th down in the 2nd quarter, there was ~2:00 on the clock and the Colts went with 3 straight run plays. Manning had shown all season long that he was great at the 2-minute drill before the half. The defense had just come up with a huge play, so why not take advantage of that? I know they were backed up pretty far, but come on. A score there could have been a momentum changer. The 3 straight runs said to me that Caldwell didn't trust the D or the O. Then the Saints came out after the half, did the onside kick, and took the momentum from there. They had balls and it paid off. Going back to the first Jets game, the Colts' lack of balls cost them a 19-0 season.

I hope the Colts go back to losing in the first round. It's so much less disappointing that way. I almost long for the days of Jeff George when we were guaranteed to suck and we never got our hopes up. That's how the Pacers are doing it these days.

Why am I a sports fan? It's so irrational. It makes no logical sense to root for a group of random guys who play a sport I never played representing a city that I'm from but don't love. It makes no logical sense to let something I have no control of have such an influence on my emotions. I mean, the loss last night brought back memories of the mistakes and disappointments that make up my own life. It's completely irrational.

Yet here I am. I was raised a basketball player and a sports fan in general. I'll be there for the next football season hoping the Colts can redeem themselves. I'll get caught up in the same irrational thought process even though I should know better. I'll hope the Pacers keep sucking and somehow get lucky in the draft lottery. I won't know any of these people that I seem to care so much about, and I'll continue planning my move from the city and state they represent.

I should feel happy for the people of New Orleans, but I don't.

Townshend completely obliterated that over/under. Anybody who took the under had to feel like an idiot after that performance. We can only hope that Townshend put millions of dollars on the over and made enough money to retire so nobody has to witness a live performance by the Who ever again.

BTW, I was 2/4 on my over/under predictions. That's why I never bet on sports. There's a reason casinos make all that money.

Well they must be wearing coats in Hell about now...DAAYYUUMM!!! That was a pretty sound ass whippin' that I never expected. Being from Ms. the closest NFL team has always been the caints so growing up that's who we all pulled for. You begin to wonder just how long you're willing to pull for a loser. I mean 43 years is a damned long time. I'm still in shock. In the first quarter when they went down 10-zip, I thought "Oh great, here we go" but then Drew got in the rythmm in the second quarter and I began to think we had a chance...from there on it was just bloody wild. A well deserved win against a team everyone (including myself) thought would trounce them. I guess I'll finally have to quit calling them the Caints. That'll be tough as it's pretty ingrained.

Big congrats to Drew & Co...Special kudos to Porter for the 74 yard interception return ftw.
