I had a Birdstrike!

No kidding. I was driving on the interstate, returning home from running some errands. As I approached my exit, I see a group of birds flying low level, perpendicular to the road. It looked like they were going to cross just ahead of me but suddenly they all slow down. Maybe they got some surprise headwind or something. Thing is they were in collision course with me closing in fast. I hit brakes and slowed down but it was not enough. ..

Two birds hit the windshield and a 3rd entered the car and hit me square in the chest. I was doing like 45 and probably slowed down to 25-30ish. No idea of the bird's speed. But felt like I got hit with a bat.

I come home and lay down for about 2 hours. Still hurts and I have a headache. I looked inside the car but the bird's body is not there. I only found a few feders.

I don't know much about birds so I don't know the species. I happened so quickly... they were small, smaller than a pigeon or a crow, grayish.

Ruben, I hope that you had the common sense to crash your car into the closest river.

So did your windshield get damaged? How about the other two birds?

You must be traumatized, you're talking like Elmer Fudd. Were the birds chasing a wabbit?

good thing you have the reflexes of a cat!

pilot, Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, told air traffic control that birds struck and disabled both the jet's engines.

Nope... windshield looks OK. No even blood on it. I did watched one of the struck birds on my rear view mirror, falling to the ground... looked dead and made me feel bad cuz I'm a sentimental fool.

I searched again in the car, still no body. I wonder what could have happen to the bird that hit mah chest. I had both windows opened and sunroof partially opened. Maybe it bounced out...dunno.

Damnit. I was going to make a joke about it being a good thing you didn't land on a river, but two people beat me to it.

Back when we were younger, and dumber, my buddy Jeff and I were driving along an interstate in a Jeep CJ-5 with the top off and windshield down. He was driving at his usual speed, (~75mph), and I was turned toward him talking...errr...pretty much screaming, to be heard over the wind.
A medium-sized bird passed between our faces.

Sorry Ruben, I'm sure it was probably intense in an unwelcome way, but that's straight up awesome! If you ever run into Captain Sullenberger or FO Skiles, you've got an easy conversation starter.

Glad you're ok. Imagine how this guy felt (clicky for the big view):
