Serious question about gay men

Why do they get along so well with women? To be truthful, I envy them for this. I can't get along with women to save my ass but I have seen gay men sit down with a group of chicks and have a good old time. Why is that?

Hope no one finds this post offensive. If anything it probably shows what a narrow minded pig I can be. I have gay friends. I just can't figure out..................

Two main reasons off the top of my head- the lack of sexual tension and gay guys aren't afraid to communicate their emotions.

Same reason you get along well with women you have no chance of going out on a date with. (unless you don't get along with them either )..

Take sex out of the equation. Gay guys aren't interested in having sex with women, so they can interact with us without their mini-me taking over the conversation.

They also are not competing with women for dates, so they may get along better with women than other women.

Uhh what? There isn't a standard of gay men that allows them to get a long better with any other group of people. There are a lot of gay men that hate women. And a lot of gay men that are more dramatic and catty than any woman I've ever met - and don't play well with women at all.

Women however who are more receptive to gay men than straight men are so partly because they are safer. They can offer a male perspective without the threat of developing a romantic relationship with them. Whether or not that same gay man is receptive to the same relationship is entirely individual. I'm pretty sure there are only a couple statements that can be said about ALL gay men, or even the majority of gay men. And "Gets along well with women" isn't one of them.

I was thinking of throwing my own (straight) two cents in here, but there's already too much unfounded speculation (aka BS) in this thread already.

The only time I've seen gay people get along better with women is on TV. From my experience it is a stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood and not the least backed up by the real world.

Completely uncalled for but it's nice to see the state of your mind.

As stupid as that was, I had to laugh.

I want to know the answer to this question too. I can't get it from my gay friends because they too do not know.

I have no problems sitting down with a bunch of women, men, or gay men and having a good old time. I am not gay. Perhaps it is just an individual personality trait that has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Perhaps it is because I grew up with a single mom and 2 sisters. Perhaps it is many things...

+1 From a woman's perspective, the gay men probably aren't thinking about getting a date, getting some, or whatever. It's about whatever the topic of conversation is. The women probably feel safer, like they can relax and be themselves because they don't have to worry about ulterior motives.

My $.02......

SOME gay men get along well; others don't. They're kinda like people that way.

I get along with some gay men; others, I don't. It depends on how 'over the top' they act.

Oddly, I get along better with most gay women; I think I might be a lesbian trapped in a man's body. It would explain a LOT!
