I had a cat that would attack herself in the mirror behind my door like that if she got shut in my bedroom at night when I was a kid. Shook the wall (I shared it with my parents - they got good about making sure she wasn't accidentally stuck in there with me). She'd pick herself up, shake herself off, wander across the room to get a running start and do it again.

I imagine that the otter must have a spinal issue with all of that wiggling about.

First of all it AIN'T no "Otter." "Otters" live in the OCEAN and don't come onto land to eat fish. Their main diet consists of SHELLFISH and/or crustaceans.

Weasel's, OTOH, live near inland lakes and streams, do wander about on land, are playful to the point of being silly, and eat fish a lot.

So, it's a WEASEL not an "otter." And the fact that it plays a practical joke on the kitty is in keeping with a WEASEL'S nature.

I've seen river otters in the Lehigh river while kayaking. A whole family of them ran a little class II rapid with me. It was very cool.
