Six Terras

My old network-attached shared drive (WD My World Book, 1Tb) has been retired. It's 3.5 HDD has been transplanted into an external e-sata case to be used for backups and data transfers.

Behold the new Raid5 Array:

Four HDDs, 2TB each. After the Raid and the formatting take their chunks, I have 5.45 Terra-bytes available. Now I shall start moving my stuff to it. Might take me the whole night... about 1.5Tb of stuff scattered around the house.

you should have used blue cables, as they are faster.

Leave those comments for P&R my friend. This is a politics-free data array.

no, hand tools are for simple tasks, you use a chain saw and a blow torch to bake a computer like that!

True as well.

The machine needs a proper case, Thermaltake or better. But RubenX Tech Division is lacking on funds so the executive mandate is to hold functionality over aesthetics.

I'm still transferring data into the array. Transfers are taking longer than I thought.

easier to drain and the only thing that's necessary is that the pump be below the res

that and that was the only place where it could be put.

well, it was only a lowly AM2+ system, so it's not like it needed 4x 1GB DDR2

I just inhaled a bunch of cat repellent by accident, so I might be typing like a drunk.

Where does one buy cat repellent?

Generally speaking, I enjoy my feline attention, but for when canned duster doesn't cut the mustard to address ill behavior, it'd be nice to know some effective measures.

And the thread could not be complete without some proper benchmarking results... here's the numbers:

Not Impressive, but cheap, secure and fast enough.

Fox Urine, available at the "hunting" section of your local Walmart. Seems to work well with my local squirrels also.
