This was interesting:

"The siblings' father, also named Steven Miner, was one of their attorneys. Their mother filed for divorced in 1995.

The 2009 lawsuit is Garrity's ex-husband's attempt to "seek the ultimate revenge," Garrity's attorney Shelley Smith wrote in court papers.

But the elder Steven Miner said in court papers that he tried to talk his children out of filing the lawsuit. A message seeking comment left today for attorney Steven Miner in Barrington wasn't immediately returned."

He tried... but then took the case? How about he refuses to give into their foolishness. Pop makes good money- why didn't they get him to send the care packages and buy the prom dress?

Thank goodness the Court didn't waste its time... those kids should be really ashamed and embarassed.

So glad this thing got dismissed. That's ridiculous.

His son's birthday card was an exhibit filed in the case. He said it was "inappropriate" and didn't include money. The card pictured tomatoes on a table with one tomato that had googly eyes. Inside the card read: "Son I got you this Birthday card because it's just like you ... different from all the rest!" Garrity wrote: "Have a great day! Love & Hugs, Mom xoxoxo."
What a selfish bastard.

As a father putting my daughter through college.... HAHAHAHAH! That's one way to get completely cut off! Wow.

You know why the father took the case? Because no other lawyer was stupid enough to.

But the siblings' attorney wrote in court papers they don't see their lawsuit as an attack. The siblings think "there must be accountability for actions."
I agree totally.....

But not the way they would want. They should be held responsible for court costs and the court should verify they earned the money, not that they got it from dad.

They got divorced in 1995 and the guy is still holding onto anger such that he's willing to pursue this lawsuit 16 years later? I pity the children to be caught up in the mess between their parents, but they are adults and should be able to see through it.

I can't imagine how the mother must feel having her ex-husband and children against her like that.

If they were your name would be Preston Skyler Throckmorton IV.

And you would be required to match you socks and helmet to the color of your bike frame.

Yes, we shall all sue each other for not providing the others with boxes of donuts in the morning. Or maybe we should leave the moneygrubbing lawyers out of it and run out and get some donuts.

Or maybe we should all sue her on the following charges:
1. Eating all of our donuts.
2. An unpronounceable username that afflicts pain and suffering on all that see it.

Ages 23 and 20, and suing mommy for not putting money in their birthday cards?

HTFU, kids. I got my first real job (actual paycheck and taxes) when I was 13. Moved out when I was 17 and went to college. Haven't sponged off my folks since then, and that was over 20 years ago.
