We've gotten more into collecting concrete garden statues, usually gargoyles. Click on the pics to enlarge. Here are a few:

Water.
I have samples of water from all over the world.
Pacific ocean, Atlantic, Mississippi River, Bath England, Trevi Fountain, Lake Como, a glacier in Norway, etc.
All together I have about twenty different samples.
Ones I really want: Indian Ocean, samples from above both arctic circles, and the reflecting pool in front of the Taj Mahal.

Zippo lighters. Must be the pyromaniac in me since I don't smoke except for the rare cigar at get-togethers. I'd like to add some WWI era trench lighters to my collection.

My wife loves the Fairies. I like the glass vases. We have an extensive collection of pottery, but I've always wanted to get a few glass bowl / vases as art pieces.

When I used to belong to a juggling club years ago, we all went out and bought zippo lighters. I've never smoked. I used them as juggling props. You can do some pretty cool tricks with them.

Wow, a devoted fan. Hope it doesn't turn into a "Hoarders" show.

That's got to be one of the best collections I've ever heard of. Do you display them? and have you ever had any problems crossing the boarder with the water?

Who doesn't? Every few years I give away a bunch to the Sally Anne, only to rebuild our collection with even more games. It's a sickness ... and the worst part is that we never play them.

OK, you've got to post some pics. Preferably with them lined up on the hood of your muscle car.

Pin-Back Buttons.

I inherited the collection that my great grandfather started and my mother kept up. I've added on to it, snagging a button wherever I go. I becomes like a biography.

Most are in labeled Mason jars. Some have sand, stones, shells, etc in the bottom.
I usually fill a water bottle when I collect a sample. I've had bacteria grow when I used a washed out soda bottle, but never any problems when I used a bottled water bottle. So far so good as when it comes to customs. You have to check them because of the no liquids rule. I don't think customs will ever question them. It's a bottle of water, pretty innocuous. But, yeah, there is a little bit of a thrill of imagined smuggling when one is filling out the forums on the plane.

What happened to the black yard jockey? My uncle had one for years when I was a kid. I remember he had to paint it "non-black".

Extra pounds. :(

Would I be unhappy with Pounds Sterling?

That's the one that I posted. Both of my G3s are 333mhz. I'm currently in the middle of trying to get a modded version of Tiger on them so they can be somewhat useful.

I'm doing my hardest to NOT collect stuff anymore. I'm out of room.

RedRider2009 09-05-11 08:34 PM

I would not consider myself a collector, but I have a bunch of knives, flashlights, and a variety of bags. Most of them have practical uses, and they all were purchased based on good design, reviews, or just being cool.

www.freecycle.org

I've opened up a ton of space by getting rid of old junk ... oops, I mean useful stuff that others can still enjoy.

Fixed your link there. Com is a spam site, Org is what I think you meant.

And thanks for reminding me of that site. That'll be a great addition to my craigslist dejunking.

Thanks. It's a great way to get rid of stuff.
