I wonder what the aftermath of that was. Did the city simply take their boot back and move along to the next crime, or did they get the license plate number from their records of whom got the boot that day, go find the scofflaw, and then cite him with additional crimes against society?

Jeez... what a loser. Just throw the booted wheel back in trunk and cut the boot off with an angle grinder when you get home.

If you are going to drive around with $xx,xxx of unpaid tickets... keep a dewalt 20v max angle grinder in the trunk and just cut the boots off in-situ.

I don't have a picture to post of the boots they use in my little burg, but they are FAR more difficult to remove than that, that, band-aid. Ours have a disc on the lugnut side that covers them. I've never had one on my car so I've never had any reason to remove one but I suspect the boot probably attaches to the axle. I had a neighbor that left his booted so long they put a second boot on it.

EDIT: Picture from Google:

That was my first thought as well. If someone is actually using such crappy boots, they're asking to get them stolen.

Your ankle monitor was easier to remove than that, wasn't it?

Funny, but looking at the pictures I don't get the layout. Is that bathroom/fireplace area the 'front' third near the door, and then that bed/sitting room the back 2/3?

I'm not sure how that guy got into that post, but some of those decorative building posts have a panel or narrow door on them and are the location of the building's utility services. Fire sprinkler riser pipes, fire alarm panels, electric panels, phone panels (old landline service), security system controllers, I've even seen one with a mail slot on it. Makes sense, as a contractor/service tech can access the equipment without impacting the business inside the building, and the postman can drop letters/small packages in them if the business is closed.

Top Secret govenrnnent post office maybe? did two well dressed men in an official looking SUV visit and tell you they couldn't discuss it right now, it was a vital state matter?
