Dog people, I have a question.

While spring cleaning today, I found an old chess board in my closet. As I was dusting it off my dog Inge bit me. Inge usually bites me when she wants something so naturally I asked what she wanted. After pleading for several hours I realized that all she wanted to do was play a game of chess. Since I know most dogs can't play chess I figured it was an easy win. I was wrong.

With that said, is your dog smarter than you too?

On the local MUP, most of the dogs I see are definitely smarter than their people. Better trained too.

Blinky the Infamous MinPin has an appreciation for british comedy on PBS. The documentaries seem to bore him though, which leads me to believe that he is already current on worldy issues.

I bit Sparky earlier. She would not share her steak with me.

Reminds me of a Demetri Martin joke:

Demetri: What a beautiful dog! Does she bite?

Woman: Oh no.

Demetri: Oh yeah? Well then how does she eat?

Blade and Zoe, the german shep. tag team, have intimidation of unknown vehicles and people down to a science; they also appear to be able to determine where our air rights end and scold offending birds mercilessly.

My dog is a manipulating little *****. She constantly persuades me and my girlfriend to do whatever she wants to do. So yeah, she's smarter than us.

My JRT was into gardening. He would eat the palm fruit seeds of the Washingtonia Filiferia that was in the back yard, and plant them with fertilizer elsewhere. He watered them too.

I have a 125lb coon hound/lab mix. He like to be in the same room as me. So he will follow me up and down the stairs. I then play the 'stair game'. I'll start down the stairs, with the dog with me, at the half way point I'll stop while he continues. When he realizes I've stopped he'll stop. At which I'll go up the stairs backward. He realizes I'm going back up, turn around and runs to the top of the stairs, them I go down again, he runs down, I stop, turn around and go up, he goes up. This could go on all day. The game stops when he get pissed off enough to bite me, or my wife yells about the noise(do you know what it sounds like when a 125 lb dog runs up and down un-carpeted stairs?

My dog is smart enough to know that if she informs me it's time to go outside, and does her business, then she gets a treat when we come back inside.
Sometimes she'll put her paw up on the table or desk (her sign that it's time to go out) only 15 minutes after we've already been there and when we get to the fenced run she'll force out whatever 3 drops of whiz she can muster. Then she comes barelling back over to me with the dippy "I get a treat now, right?" look on her face.

Let's see....my dog get's to play in camp or rest all day on the couch and watch the tele, while the wife and I slave away at jobs to buy food, toys, and treats for her.
So, yes, she's smarter then us.
