That's some of the most powerful advertising, those sad eyes. It works. Don't expect the Humane Society to stop using it any time soon.

Dogs are great actors.

That dog wants to be petted and is being taunted by a camera instead! Bad humane society!

Yep, I fall for those eyes everytime I eat dinner. My dogs won't touch their heaping bowls of food but they'll eat scraps from my plate.

I had one dog who realized that my ex was a sucker for his acting and would shiver to show her how cold he was and needed to come in after being put out in the morning to do his business. It worked all winter. Then he tried it one nice warm spring morning. Busted!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have to change the channel once in a while to get away from the ads.

I think those ads just drag you back to reality.

I love my dogs... I really do.
However, my overweight lazy yellow lab (Candy) is slightly neurotic and a pain to brush, bathe, trim toenails. She also weighs 100lbs. She loves everybody and would never intentionally hurt anyone, but she's stepped on me, knocked me over, and needs more love than I can provide.
My smaller brown mutt (Sandy) is completely insane. She's aggressive but fearful. She (mostly) obeys me, but nobody else. I almost got bit today giving her a bath (warm water, indoors). She stays near me as much as possible. She'll run off if she gets out. She'll bite strangers. She terrorizes the cat. She cows the bigger dog. She was abandoned by her owner a few years ago (an old friend of mine) and still has separation anxiety. She freaks out every day when I go to work.
Like I said... I love my dogs, but no HS advert will EVER convince me to get another.

I'm no sucker for those ads. Three dogs and three cats are enough for me.
All of them were abandoned at one time. Never again.

What would you rather see. One humane society ad OR an episode of whatever the Kardashian show is?

I was up early today - 6:15am and the commercials were either the Humane Society or the ones showing all the kids with 'cleft' palates. We have 2 dogs/6 cats.
