It's a definite hint to back off when animals are holding their ears back like that.

I know from definite experience with my cat that if he is doing the "aero head profile" one should back off slowly but firmly. Even that might not help.

Unfortunately, no. To win a Darwin one must remove oneself from the gene pool, preferably before reproducing.
