BF political adverts: Why?

Just getting sick of the MN vote "Yes" advertisements everytime I come here. Don't mind an advert for a politician, but why does BF support the anti-gay rights legislation and shove it down my throat? Just curious... Thought this place was about bikes, not the redefinition of marriage.

Slighty ticked off,

-Ian

Just get Adblock plus. No more banners. I'm sure they have nothing to do with the people who run the sites' opinions, it's just who's willing to pay.

They sell advertising space to an agency who actually sells the advertising. I doubt they have any control over what's advertised except on a very broad basis, e.g. no porn. I've gotten advertisements for everything from SUVs to lingerie.

Add agency probably knows your political views (all hail omnigoogle) and is trying to change your views. Remember that the adds you get are not necessary the adds other people get. Your online activities (even outside BF, again, all hail omnigoogle) will affect the types of adds you get. Example:

I browse BF all day long, and when I visit an unrelated gun forum I get a Trek Bikes add over there.

You could always just become a paying member and not have to deal with the ads at all...

Got a report in with Tom to send this upstairs to see what we can do about removing the political ads. I agree they have no place on this forum (in my opinion)

Or see if you can snag a free membership upgrade that are given out from time to time. It is how I got my yellow jersey.

To get rid of objectionable/political ads, we need a screenshot of the ad. Post a thread in the user assistance forum with a screenshot of the ad. Did I mention we need a screenshot of the ad?

it appears that at least one person from IB is monitoring THIS THREAD about bad ads

If we say the things these Tea Party A__holes say in the ads we get attacked by other members and sent off to P&R. I know the election is soon, but BikeForums needs to fix this by the next election.

Had to check but I'm getting vote no ads. Do what I do. Just ignore them.

Take a screen shot, post it in, User Assistance, and it will get passed along the chain to whomever at IB that is in charge of adverts, and they will ask google to pull the ad from BF's list.
