It is rather interesting though, how tattoos in America went from being in the world of outlaw motorcycle riders and sailors, to mainstream, and even
accepted in white suburbia. Who knows that the next quarter century will bring?
Years ago at the circus I saw the "Snake Lady"who had scales tatooed all over her body.
Sort of creeped me out.

Sometimes art just goes all wrong.

I have quite a few. Most are on my thigh. I have some pretty ridiculous ones. Like my toes, but at this point I don't regret any of them. They are just memories. All of mine are easily cover able. My arm is the only one that is seen the most but its short of being a half sleeve.

I didn't do it. I was very close, but the person I was going to go to was booked. Plus I wasn't about to re-shave a spot on my head. And then I remembered what profession I am pursuing.

I have one on my shoulder above the short sleve level. Got it after my brother and I sunk a sailboat in a storm and spent 3 hours in the water. We were both very hypothemic and had said our goodbyes when some guy came along and just happened to spot us. I see and appreciate it everyday, but no one else needs to.

^^^ See? Stuff like that is very meaningful and special. No one else has to understand it, it has to come from the heart, from the soul. Glad you are still here with us, jdon.

If you are a badass tribal warrior from the South Pacific then tats are cool!

On everyone else, not so cool.

I often ride my bike (the one you pedal) to Neptune's Net, on PCH. NN is a hang out for bikers and biker wanna be (the bikes you drive). You'd be surprised at all the dentists, CPAs, and lawyers, etc. sporting tats. They have poseur written all over them.

I have no tats but I can see where people think they're cool, some of them are. What bugs me is when people get tats that have no real significant meaning to them just for the sake of getting ink. I understand your kids names or USMC (if your a marine) but Like a tribal armband on a guy who grew up in Vermont. what tribe are you from buddy?? or a spiderweb on your elbow which is very common, I guess I just dont get it.
