I dunno about the manic part... woke up to some fresh coffee as I broke down on bought a drip machine on the weekend and thought hey, this thing can make coffee while I sleep.

Girls are flittering around getting ready for school while their lunch cooks in the rice cooker and snow falls outside on what is a downright balmy morning.

Plans for the day involve cleaning and de-cluttering the house and making soup.

Don't know if I can handle all that.

Electric kettle stopped working. Had to boil water for the french press on the stove which takes so much longer.

Walked outside and waited at the bus stop in 2F weather.

Paycheck hasn't been deposited yet by my employer. Have to talk to someone about that.

Came into work with a pile of stuff on my desk.

Yup, it is Monday alright.

I dunno...

Girls have been dispatched... roads were unusually quiet for a Monday and folks were taking it easy what with all the ice on the roads.

Will be a good day to stay home as I expect the road carnage to pick up as the snow continues to fall but at least I'm not in Calgary where snow and ice seems to mean, "drive faster".

I can't complain about the weather here, a bit dreary but it's about 48F, I was bold and didn't even wear a coat.

Okay... I am gonna have to draw the line on Carpenter's songs on Mondays... at least before it's time to pour oneself a glass of bourbon and mope.

Way too sad.

This will knock the crap right out of Mondays... that soup I mentioned.

Tomato with beans and chick peas, onions, celery, a healthy does of garlic and then cilantro, oregano, and black pepper. Will be frying up some back bacon to add some savoury zest to half of it and will leave the rest vegetarian / vegan friendly because you never know who could stop by and be hungry.

Wondering if it needs a little bourbon too... hmmmmm.

I cannot see the point in making a small pot of soup... I have two growing daughters who love vegetable soups and always like to put some away in the freezer for days when I don't feel like cooking or to use in school lunches.

Do the same thing when I make chana dal and stews.

What's so manic about it?
Rolled in at 9 for my token meeting for the week. Left at 11:30 for a 2-hour lunch (well, a half-hour ride out, an hour of lunching, and a half-hour ride back), and have returned to... well, not much.

Actually, I was opening my sunshade and it fell down on me. So I ran to the basement and grabbed a ladder and am currently working on replacing it. Unfortunately, my cycling arms are not so good at blindly inserting the shade into its spindle overhead. Did I mention that this is in front of a 3rd floor plate glass window? At least I have something to do this afternoon.

Geez... I got to work at 7:15AM, did the weekly controlled substance order by 9AM (it has to be in by that time), did a bunch of paperwork, escorted the repair guy to work on one of the machines in Surgery, changed the water for the leeches, then spent the rest of the day cudgeling my brain with inventory arrangements in the Children's Hospital. After work, I went to the chiropractor. On the way, it was a light snow/ice/drizzle mix. Snizzling? Yeah, it was snizzling.

All in all, it was a pretty relaxed day.
