Blockbuster - No late fees

Anybody been to blockbuster recently and checked out their new policy? Basically if you don't bring it back by the due date, nothing happens. However 8 days later you are charged the retail price of buying it brand-new. Now it's yours.

Any experiences with this yet? Anybody tested the no-late fee policy? I've currently got a game 3 days past due date, and I'm keeping it for another couple days but returning it before I'm charged the full price. I want to see if they keep their word.

I have not had any problems returning DVDs a few days late.

Bear in mind that if you keep it out 8 days late, you are charged the full price of the movie. You can then return the movie less a "restocking fee." The "restocking fee" is basically a scam since the movie will just be put on the shelf by the same drug addicted ****** who re-shelves the movies returned on time.

I am with Hollywood Video, and I'm hoping Blockbuster ends up buying them out in that proposed merger. When I am late, they still charge me for the next four days at Hollywood.

I returned a movie late that was rented prior to the policy change, paid the late fee after the policy change and was given a free rental certificate for paying the late fee????

Edit: The late fee was less than the value of the free rental.

The Blockbuster in my town does not participate in that deal.

I go to Hastings, anyway.

My wife and I were just talking about this the other day, regarding Blockbuster and the new policy. I wonder if its really legitimate. We have been going to Hollywood these days lately because of the late fees at Blockbuster. However i have no intention of "buying' a movie from Blockbuster. Once I have seen a movie once, that's it. I don't want to keep the thing; just takes up room it the house. and I'll never watch it again . Not more than once.

Netflix is the way to go. No late fees and you can keep the movie as long as you want. We just recently changed our rental agreement to the 5 movies at a time from 3. I think it's around $28 for 5. We usually go through 10-15 rentals a month so it works out to be pretty cheap. Just drop them in your mailbox. No driving to the store to return them. We love it.

From a local newspaper article here, most Blockbusters in SC, GA, and FL aren't participating in this new policy. The franchise owner is mad because Viacom advertised the new policy in this area.

Amen to that - we have a local store (Crazy Mike's) that rents all movies - even new releases - for two bucks every Wed, and almost all (INCLUDING new releases) are 7 day rentals. Try getting that at Blockbuster.

Well, what if I accidentally hit the copy cd button in my cd burner and the movie consequently loaded itself onto my hard drive? Can that be done?

Sometimes. Most DVD's have a copy protection built in to them. Now, if you were to have access to a program that would, oh let's say 'by-pass' the anti-copy encoding on the DVD then confidence is high that you could technically copy that DVD, legally however. You might want to consult your attorney.

Do you look good in stripes or bright orange?
