Colorimeter, LCD

I need to get my computer monitor into tighter spec, so I'm looking at colorimeters. I understand how they work and even ported the software for a Mac over to the PC. But, I haven't played with the current crop. Does anyone have experience with them and have recommendations?

I have used Spyder Express and in general it did a decent job. they are not too expensive.

How about your monitor? is that an IPS panel (assuming a LCD.)

Apparently it is $20 cheaper in Amazon:

X-Rite EyeOne Display 3 + ChromaPure is IMO the best <$500 option. I've used a similar system on projectors, TVs, and computer monitors with a lot of success.
