Ankle socks are dumb

I think they look as stupid or worse than when the old men wear black socks with shorts. Years from now people will make fun of ankle socks the way we do mullets.
Just remember you heard it here first.

If you want to look cool wear gray athletic socks like I do.

I wear ankle socks with my tennis shoes when I'm wearing shorts. No one has made fun of me yet.

do you want to see my collection of fashionable ankle socks?

I've got checkered, printed, pink, cyan, yellow, white, red, etc.

I don't get any comments while wearing them. However, the tan line they create does elicit comments- anywhere from whispered to laugh out loud

I wish I could find wool ankle socks. Those would be so sweet with river sandals.

Not on BF.

The mods don't like sockpuppets on BF.

I don't know how long the trend will last, but I do know I've avoided them since the first time I saw them. Perhaps it's just because I wear boots typically, but I don't see the point, because it's not as though regular socks inhibit your legs.

I wear calf high smartwool socks on the river. But I know smartwool and point6 both have merino ankle socks. Check Sierra Trading Post.

So this is more about color then?...the whole "don't show dirt as easily" mindset? Cuz "athletic" socks are ankle high too. Did you mean to say crew socks?

I wear black ankle socks with my Chaco and Teva sandals. Seems to cover the same temp range and offers a little more warmth and protection without looking as dirty as white would.

A lot of older films of the shady variety (pre 1970) starred guys wearing only black socks.

.......I'm thinking about getting some plaid Bermuda shorts. What sort of socks will go with them, do you think ?

Also, I'm wondering about an appropriate ankle tattoo ? Maybe something that looks like a crew sock top ?
