Jeep Unlimited

Anybody driven the Jeep Unlimited? If so, what do you think? How does it compare to the standard Wrangler?

The new Unlimited Rubicon looks pretty sweet--just fishing for info since I have a new car purchase on the horizon.

Thanks,
BR

As an owner of a standard Rubicon (not the Unlimited), I gotta say I think the Unlimited is ugly and pointless, especially as a Rubicon. What makes the Rubi such an incredible off-road machine besides all of the obvious is the short wheel base allows me to sneak around trees and over rocks that big trucks can't. I've actually taken it down a mtb trail.

If you want cargo space, buy a Liberty, if you want to seriously off-road buy a Rubi.

Did I mention the Unlimited's are ugly? They're ugly.

The unlimited is ugly as hell. Especially with the top on. No doubt.

That said, the extra space is primo. The Unlimited Rubicon gives up a few degrees on angles but still has the "Jeepness" that nothing else can rival (not even the Liberty). Also, the Unlimited rides a hell of a lot better.

The 2005 Unlimited Rubicon comes in both auto and 6-speed stick.

Does the 6-speed mean they've gotten rid of the range case, or do they now have 12 forward and 2 reverse?
