This one is for the younger members who maybe didn't know Elton John before disco and pop. My favorite Taupin song and about the only Elton John tune I listen to anymore. This is off Tumbleweed Connection which is the first album in my collection.

My youngest daughter is friends with Nigel Olsson's (Elton John's drummer) daughter. Her mother, Nigel's now ex-wife was one of the girls Tiny Dancer was witten about. My daughter was able to go with them to see EJ in Charlotte this summer and hang out backstage and meet the band. One of my favorite Bernie Taupin written Elton John songs and even better in a great R & R movie, Almost Famous. From the movie:

^That's really cool! I'm not an Elton nut, but he's legendary enough that I'd be more than happy to even just go to a show.

Looks like a good place to air some of my favorite 40's and 50's songs.

Definitely in the mood for this one.

I decided to make this thread my substitute for Modern Music Monday, since I'm rather weak on that subject.

But since you asked, I'll post a couple of versions of the same song.

The sheltered version I remember from my youth,

....and the not so sheltered version I didn't hear until years later......especially with lyrics like, "low down low, way down underneath, baby you make me roll my eyes and grit my teeth."

Thanks Benz...yea she was. Elton just appeared for a quick hello & happy birthday to Nigel's daughter and Liz didn't get to meet him or get a photo, but she spent some time with the rest of the band it was a great experience. Cameron Crowe must like EJ, because there were several of his songs in the movie. Please allow one more montage clip from the movie with another great Taupin / John song:

Not sure what the status of this quartet is now. Apparently, they are only performing
in Europe.
