January 2014-FOO Photo Contest! - we have a winner!

Lamplight & macfred have chosen 'Keeping Warm in the Cold' (very apt theme for some parts at this time!)(lamplight's theme) & 'Wintertime' (macfred's) as this month's themes:

The rules are simple:
-You must be the photographer
-One entry per month
-Try to make the image a recent one.

Good Luck Everyone AND Stay Warm!

Hmmm ... this is a bit of a tough one. It's the middle of summer, and we don't get much in the way of winter anyway. Maybe I can find a photo where it is pouring rain.

It was 30C here yesterday and is supposed to be hot all week ... maybe under the category "Keeping Warm in the Cold" I could take a picture of the next cruise ship full of tourists.

A Florida wintertime?
Each winter when the temp drops and cools the water in rivers, manatee congregate in springs with year round temp of 72 degrees and other hotspots, such as power plants that discharge water used to cool the plant. Both the water and grouping together keeps them warm. Their temperature tolerance range is about the same as humans - but they have no winter clothing. It was 35 degrees in the AM, but when I took the picture yesterday around noon it had risen to the mid 50s. Official count was 303 manatee that day at the spring.
