More kineticism... I can't tell where the "vintage" ends and the new begins.

Mashup, but a fun romp through popular songs of recent past.

I like them, jeanHTX you live in such a great place for music, you ever go to the Austin City Limits filming at Moody Theater (I think) ? Saw Arcade Fire on ACL a year or so ago and Nine Inch Nails this past weekend, as well as a lot of other good bands from all classes off music. If anyone wants to see the NIN performance it's on the PBS website: Austin City Limits | Watch Online | PBS Video

CBS also did a profile on Arcade Fire this Sunday AM...I think this song and The Suburbs from the album of the same name has been their best work so far

But does that count as 'modern music'? The original was done by linda perry in 1993....

I think Funeral is better than The Suburbs. Reflektor was pretty great though too.

My favorite song from The Suburbs is:

I got to see David Gray at a small theater here in Houston the other weekend. Last time I saw him was way back in, maybe 2002. Always been one of my most favorite artists. His new album Mutineers is easily his best work since Life In Slow Motion. Definitely check it out.
Here'sa couple from it

that's awesome! i've never gone to any of the tapings, but i've been there a ton to see shows. i do feel pretty blessed to live in a city that appreciates music this much (and even comedy! i went to both comedy festivals this year). funfunfunfest is coming up in a few weeks and that wraps up my music/comedy events for the year (not including spontaneous shows i encounter or hear about last minute).

If you haven't seen it yet, you should really try and see the ACL 40th anniversary show on PBS. I don't know how often they have or will show it, but I can't believe it's a one-off thing.

Hadn't heard him before, I like both songs....he looks kind of like a young Phil Collins.
Regine should sing more songs solo, and while we're talking look-likes - I don't even have to say it to anyone alive in the late 70's

I bet you have. Look up the album White Ladder. The whole thing is a listen straight through album. And it's the one with this song:

If I had to rank his albums:
White Ladder
Life in Slow Motion
Mutineers
Draw The Line
A New Day at Midnight
Flesh/A Century Ends/Sell Sell Sell
Foundling

Last week R&R lost 2 notable singers. We discussed Jack Bruce's death yesterday but also lost from an apparent drug overdose was Tyson Stevens of the band Scary Kids Scaring Kids...one of my oldest daughter's favorite bands.
